What formula would you use for a cool red on a level 6?

You could add N to your formula, it contains a slight blue base.

I personally like to use the ash blue color corrector to create a cooler red.  1-inch ribbon for every ounce mixed on levels 4-6.

When I apply a 6.23 as a lowlight on level 9/10 it can leave a green hue to the entire hair while rinsing.  Any tips on the perfect lowlight color or how to avoid the green hue?

You can add a filler directly to your color.  In your case I would use ¼ 6.34.

Can ChromaSilk be used on hair that has been previously treated with a keratin straightening treatment?

Yes! It is very low in ammonia, 1.3-1.9%.  It also has Pure Silk Amino Acids and Keratin Protein, very conditioning on the hair after a keratin treatment.  Make sure to follow the guidelines on how soon you can color, depending on the manufacturer.

I have trouble controlling yellow underlying pigment with ChromaSilk when I lift hair to a level 8.

Be sure to neutralize the underlying pigments at your startling level and not your target level.  For example if you are lifting from a level 5 to an 8, you will need to formulate to control the strong orange pigment present at a level 5.

What do you recommend for 100% gray coverage?

For 100% gray coverage, you need to include 75% Natural or Gold series into your formula, both have exceptional gray coverage, and 25% of your formula can be your target shade.

I have been disappointed in how VIVIDS fade.  I have very blonde hair and applied Magenta and after one shampoo it is pastel pink.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

PRAVANA has a recommendation guide for pre-lightening for VIVIDS and PASTELS.  For Magenta, Violet, Red, Orange and Wild Orchid you need to lift to a level 7.  For Yellow and Green, you’ll need to pre-lighten to a level 9, and for Blue, Silver, and all PASTELS lift to a level 10.  These guidelines account for the proper amount of underlying pigment to optimize vibrancy and longevity.

Also, PRAVANA has recently introduced VIVIDS Color Protect Shampoo, Conditioner, and Color Sealing Spray.

What is the formula for the redhead model shown on the chat page?

The red ChromaSilk model was originally a blonde.  The formula is 6.64 with added 8.34 for filler.

I am thinking of switching over from Matrix to PRAVANA ChromaSilk, but I am nervous about not being able to achieve the same results.  Any suggestions?

You can create an account on http://www.pravanapro.com/ and gain access to the color conversion chart, which will ease the anxiety of switching over.  The PRAVANA Pro Site is a great resource for accessing education and business building tools.

Allison, do you have any favorite ways to use darker levels of the Bombshell Brunettes?

For the client who wants a “chocolate brown”:

Chocolate Brown is a very common phrase used by clients. The new Bombshell Brunettes work wonderfully to achieve warm iridescent looks. 4.37 or 5.37 alone can achieve this look. Depending on what the client desires, you can add mahogany tones, which contains red and violet tones. My personal favorite is ¾ 4.37 and ¼ 6.35.

Do you have any suggestions for using Bombshell Brunettes on my blonde clients?

A color that is gaining a lot of popularity, a la Jessica Chastain and Lana Del Ray, is the “butterscotch blonde”, a neutral color, with hints of gold and copper:

½ 8.37 with ¼ 7.43 and ¼ 8N
